Last week, we wrapped up our second Energy Tech conference, and it was nothing short of amazing. With over 450 attendees and more than 100 companies represented, Energy Tech 2025 proved to be an essential gathering for industry leaders, innovators, and changemakers driving the future of energy technology.

His talk went beyond the need to deploy new technologies for the energy transition—he explored what it truly takes to build a company that can change the future of our industry.
Our CEO, Justin Etheredge, captivated the audience with his talk, A Busy Engineer’s Guide to HAL 9000 AI. With AI tools like ChatGPT becoming ubiquitous, Justin broke down the essentials of AI, explaining how these tools work, where they’re headed, and most importantly, how they can help engineers and energy professionals today—so, yes, Dave, we can do that.
One of the most exciting moments of the conference was the SPARK VIRGINIA Innovation Challenge, where Virginia’s top energy innovators took the stage in a high-energy pitch competition. Eight finalists competed live, delivering rapid-fire pitches to a panel of investors, utility executives, and industry leaders, all vying for $10,000 in prizes. It was an electrifying showcase of breakthrough technologies in utility, energy, and climate solutions, offering a glimpse into the future of energy innovation in Virginia.

Networking was a huge highlight of Energy Tech 2025. From structured discussions to impromptu conversations, participants found immense value in connecting with peers, industry veterans, and emerging leaders.
