Last Friday marked our third annual RVA JavaScript Conference, and we think it was our best one yet!
Thank you Richmond!
We are truly grateful to all of the attendees and the Richmond and central Virginia software development communities for making it such a huge success. The conference sold out last year too, but this year tickets sold out before we even finished our early bird sale!
We sent out a survey after the conference, and while responses are still coming in, so far over 90% of respondents said they would recommend a friend attend RVA JavaScript Conf next year.
We know the conference wasn’t perfect this year (we know it felt crowded at times), and it’s heartening to get such great feedback from the community. Serving the community is why we volunteer our time to put this conference together each year.
Volunteer Organizers
I would personally like to thank the organizers whose hard work made the conference possible. Hundreds of hours of work went into organizing this conference. Justin Etheredge, Gaelen Kash, Trish Mahan, Hayden Braxton, Michael Philips, Brian Bassett, and Stephen Kiningham put a ton of time and effort into making this conference a reality. Without their hard work it wouldn’t have happened.
In addition to the organizers, Spencer Hansen and Derek Heilmann on the Simple Thread design team did a huge amount of work to give the conference a new face, and to create new website, handouts, badges, signage, presentation layouts, and everything else that had our branding on it! We also had some wonderful day-of volunteers who gave up their sleep and arrived at the conference in the wee hours of the morning to help us get everything setup and get everyone checked in. The volunteers made the registration process go incredibly smoothly, and for that we are immensely grateful.
Sponsors
I would also like to thank our sponsors for their continued support! For those who have been involved in conferences in the past, you probably know that conferences are expensive! CoStar was our platinum sponsor, which had a huge impact on the conference. Our gold sponsors were ChartIQ and Singlestone. Our silver sponsors were Vaco, Homes.com, Authentic, Shockoe, PRA Group, and Carmax. Lastly, we had one bronze sponsor this year in Terazo.
Without these sponsors, the conference would not have happened. Ticket sales alone cannot pay for a conference like this.
Speakers
And last, but certainly not least, I want to thank all of the presenters. They volunteered their time to come speak at RVA JavaScript Conf. We had a ton of great presenters, and we hope we can get many of them to come back next year!
So, thank you RVA! You made this conference a huge success!
